Solidarity coaching and corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility has become a theme which raises awareness, from the shop floor to top management, in line with the current social debate around diversity, equality of opportunity, etc…

It has become essential for companies now to promote and contribute to this new awareness by taking concrete steps, involving as great a number of the personnel as possible (e.g. the French systems of ‘épargne salariale’, and ‘congé solidaire’). This sort of response to the need for social responsibility also promotes sustainable development since the company itself cannot develop sustainably in a deeply damaged social environment .

At the AEC our commitment is in favour of diversity and promotion, and against all discrimination on cultural or ethnic grounds. The AEC thus contributes through our Solidarity Coaching programme to the work of NGO’s involved for example in helping middle-aged women get back to work, or in promoting diversity in French society. française.

Solidarity Coaching is open to all coaches who are properly trained in coaching and who abide by teh AEC Code of Ethics in tehir work. These are people who feel committed to promoting the cause of Corporate Social Responsibility and who give their time for this, whilst maintaining the same standards of quality and supervision.

Up until now, coaching has been the preserve of corporate managers and above, and at high prices. The AEC’s Solidarity Coaching programme aims to bring coaching in particular to those looking for a job:

• who have serious financial problems
• who have trouble establishing contact with the corporate world
• older people who need to get a job again after a long period of employment or after educating their children, or who need to re-establish a revenue stream which has dried up.
• who are handicapped and have trouble finding their place in the workplace
• who are looking for their first job.

The aim is to enable those who would not otherwise have access to coaching to do so, and to prepare themselves to establish or re-establish a link with the corporate world.

There is a high degree of rootlessness in our society today, and less and less community life. People are alone or in small family units. This means that companies have become a place where social contact can be made, a place where everyone wishes to be heard and recognised. To be involved in the company life is at the heart of building self-confidence and developing creativity.

Solidarity Coaching therefore becomes a great opportunity to re-establish equality of opportunity for employment seekers by helping them find value and meaning along their way. And thereby puts the person back on track for employment and grants him or her a certain form of recognition, re-building his self-esteem, in preparation for his first job interview.

AS a company, you can sponsor this activity by becoming a Member of the AEC, which gives you access to:
• preferential rates for AEC workshops and conferences
• attendance at Company workshops
• listing in the Member Directory as a Corporate Member with your logo and a short presentation of your company
• a platform for making your company known for its commitment within the AEC to sustainable development as an active supporter of Solidarity Coaching.

Members of your personnel, including your ‘internal coaches’, could themselves become a ‘Solidarity coach’ after being admitted by the selection committee.

Thus your company can reinforce its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility through this innovative initiative designed to create social fabric. It gives you a new opportunity involve your personnel more actively and to contribute to the well-being of society in the wider sense and not just to that of your own people.

The AEC organises Solidarity Coaching right around France to give as many people as possible the chance to benefit by being coached!
